A menstrual cup is a small, flexible cup that you fold and insert into the vagina. Once inside, it opens up and forms a gentle seal against the vaginal walls, collecting your flow rather than absorbing it. Fabpad cups are made from soft, medical-grade silicone and are latex-free and BPA-free.

Teen is for users under 18. Small suits most women aged 18 and above. Large is for women over 30 or those who have given birth vaginally. If you are unsure, start with Small.

Up to 8 hours, depending on your flow. On heavy days, empty it a little sooner. Emptying it on time keeps you comfortable and leak-free.

Wash your hands well. Fold the cup, for example in a C-fold, so the rim becomes small. Relax, sit, squat or stand with one leg raised, and gently insert the folded cup into your vagina, angled towards your lower back. Let go and it will open. Run a finger around the base or turn it slightly to make sure it has fully opened and sealed.

Wash your hands. Gently pull the stem until you can reach the base, then pinch the base to break the seal. Ease the cup out slowly while keeping it upright, empty it into the toilet, rinse it with clean water and reinsert it.

It should not be painful once it is inserted correctly. You may need two or three cycles to get comfortable. Staying relaxed, using a little water to wet the rim and trying different folds all help.

Once it has fully opened and sealed, and you are using the right size, it should not leak. While you are learning, wear a thin pantyliner as backup for extra peace of mind.

Yes. Empty it just before bed and again when you wake up, so it stays within 8 hours.

Yes. Because it is worn inside, you can swim, run, dance, travel and play sports freely.

Each time you empty it, rinse it with clean cold water first, then warm water. You can also wash it with a mild, unscented soap and rinse it well. Make sure the small holes near the rim are clear.

Sterilise your cup before the first use and at the end of every cycle. Boil it in water for 3 to 5 minutes, or use our Fabpad Sterilizing Container, which sterilises your cup in the microwave in about 2 to 3 minutes.

Many people with an IUD use cups, but please check with your gynaecologist first. When removing the cup, always break the seal fully before pulling it out, so you do not disturb the IUD strings.

With proper cleaning and care, a cup can be reused for years. We recommend replacing it every 3 to 5 years, or sooner if it looks cracked, sticky or discoloured.
